Children’s Ministry Director
The Bible wonderfully explains that God gives children as both a gift and a reward (Ps 127:3). He is not only the creator of each life, but also the designer of the family wherein children are to be raised spiritually (Ps 128:3). For this reason, Anchorage Grace places a high emphasis on both discipling children in their responsibility to obey God and their parents (Eph 6:1-3) as well as instructing parents in how to raise their children in the fear and the admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4). To accomplish this, we offer a wide variety of programs designed to engage children with the Word of God in the hopes that they discover who God is through the Bible so that they will be convicted of their lost condition and turn to Christ for salvation.
Nursery is provided for our youngest children (ages 0-3) so that child care may be provided during times of worship. This is an opportunity for the body of Christ to serve each other by freeing up parents to participate fully in the corporate worship event. (However, parents are more than welcome to bring their children in to participate in corporate worship if they desire.)
Classes are provided weekly for pre-school to elementary age. Here, children can learn the corporate discipline of worship such singing, praying, and sitting under the teaching of Scripture. This is also where children can have their questions answered and teachers can pray with them.
Awana provides a mid-week opportunity for children ages 3 years to 6th grade to learn and memorize Scripture in a fun, community-oriented environment. It offers a fun approach for early evangelism and discipleship. Scripture-based programs and exciting games promote Bible literacy and help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ.
The Helpers-in-Training (HIT) Kids Program is intended to challenge 5th and 6th grade children to deepen their walk with God. During this six week course, children are instructed in basic doctrine and trained to serve in different ministries in the church. Once they have successfully completed the training course, they are scheduled to serve every other month. On the months the children are not serving they attend family worship in the Worship Center.
Reach-Out-Unto-the-Earth is a youth program intended to train 5th and 6th grader students to reach out into their community to share the gospel. Meeting bi-monthly from 3:00-5:00pm on Sundays, the program provides a time for students to pray together, have a Bible lesson, complete a service project, participate in fun activities.
