Peace

After Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, on that first day of the week, the Gospel of John gives us an account of the mindset of the disciples. Fearful, perhaps grieving and confused about why things had happened the way they did. They were huddled together somewhere attempting to find peace and comfort behind a locked door. One of them, Thomas, was not even there. Then, Jesus came…

“On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’”
(John 20:19)

In this world, there are always things that happen that can take away our peace. Sometimes there are things that hurt so bad that we feel as though we are unable to grasp any semblance of peace.
But for the believer, there is always peace, through Christ.

The disciples were hiding behind a locked door, but Jesus knew exactly where they were and came to them in their time of great need and spoke peace to them.

You may be in a place in your life where you too are in a time of great grief, sorrow, or fear, but Jesus knows exactly where you are. And as a child of God, he will provide the peace that you need…Jesus will show up!

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
